DEVOTIONAL: “And rising very early in the morning, while it was still dark, he departed and went to a desolate place, and there he prayed.” Mark 1:35,ESV.
CHALLENGE: A good time to pray… Traditionally we pray before each meal, at bedtime and when we wake up. Congregations pray throughout their church services. Such scheduled prayers are good for the Body (of Christ), but these are not the only times prayers can be scheduled. In his book The Battle Plan for Prayer Kendrick says, “There are times in life when you will be motivated to pray. It may be because of a crisis, a hope, a fear…” But these should not be our only reasons. Prayer, in essence, is communicating with our Heavenly Father: “the attitude or action of talking and listening to God.” Let me encourage you today to make time, whether it is daily or weekly, to pray alone and pray with your family. How often are we communicating with God for the sake of the relationship we have with Him?
